Olive oil is one of the most important ingredients of the famous Mediterranean diet. Considered to be one of the most stylish olive oils, with an exclusive design for the bottle created by the amazing Philippe Stark, is LA Organic. Produced in the local town of Ronda the olives are harvested from 200 year old olive trees that were planted in a most wonderful location where they receive exposure to the maximum number of hours of daylight and sunshine.
No matter where you eat in Andalucía you will find olive oil plays an integral part of the menu, either included in the recipe or provided on every table. Fresh crusty bread dipped into green, flavoursome and healthy oil, lightly sprinkled with salt makes a simple but fantastic start to any meal.
Add another local dish, such as prawns “pil-pil”, cooked in olive oil with garlic and chillies and served still sizzling in their little rustic style dishes, a glass or two of a good wine and you have the perfect lunch.
Ronda is only about 40kms from Marbella and is ideal for a day out with so much to see and do. However the village of Benahavis, of which we will be writing a lot more about, is ideally located to visit for lunch from Marbella and offers a great selection of restaurants.. indeed it is so it is no wonder so many people choose to live in the area.
