6th December – is a National Bank Holiday and celebrates Spanish Constitution Day.

It is the day that marks the approval of the Spanish Constitution by the Spanish people in 1978 and when Spain became a democracy so a little background detail on the country we live in is always a good thing.!

This day is usually seen as the start of the December holidays and, depending on the day the holiday falls each year, companies, banks and smaller businesses tend to take the next day, December 7th, as a “puente” or “bridge” day to link up to December 8th..which is also a Bank Holiday as it is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  So this year (2017), as Constitution Day falls on a Wednesday, it is an opportunity to have an extra long bank holiday weekend.!

It is recommended to ring in advance to any business you are intending to visit over the next few days to check their opening times. Most commercial businesses will be closed on December 6th. They will open again as usual on Thursday 7th and may or may not open on Friday December 8th.

The big shopping centres such as the La Cañada Shopping Centre in Marbella and the Miramar Shopping Centre in Fuengirola/Mijas are closed today but will be open on 8th December to allow shoppers to get an early start on their Christmas shopping.

Maybe a key to the front door of one our our fabulous properties in Marbella or surrounding areas would be a fabulous present for somebody you love !
