Now that the New Year is is full swing and your have made your decision to start a new life by moving to Marbella you can go from dreaming about it to thinking about the practicalities.
We are well aware that everything can get a little overwhelming at times and so, over the next few blogs, we will try to highlight the main points you need to take into consideration.
The key to your move is making sure you plan everything out at least 3-6 months in advance. Our checklist will be a helpful reminder of things to remember before, during and after your move.
Before you leave:
- Start learning Spanish.
Although English is widely spoken in southern Spain, it’s important that you know the basics before you arrive. It will help you feel more independent. Technology makes it even easier! There are many websites such as www.quiz-buddy.com (which offers a free trial) and has some basic phrases to start you off (with audio so you can hear and understand the phases). The BBC TV website has a great BBC TV Spanish Language programme with video explanations of vocabulary and grammar, plus extra activities (and you even learn a little bit about the capital city of Madrid). !
There are many language schools in Marbella offering intensive courses for absolute beginners. We find quite a few people combine a language course with their property viewing visits. It is not necessary to be fluent but just feeling comfortable using some basic phrases will be a huge help.
Here at Prime Property Marbella we have been through the agony of the decision and moving process and survived ! So, we want to ensure that your relocation to Marbella goes smoothly, for all the family. Then, when you make that move to one of the many beautiful areas of Marbella and find that modern townhouse near to a golf course or a modern, luxury penthouse apartment near the beach, you will be ready to start enjoying life with no worries.
